Sunday

I’ve well and truly given up on the whole “blog post every weekend” thing having not posted one for the past several weekends. Never mind. I’ve now turned it into a “blog post whenever I feel like it” thing.

Today is Sunday and I’ve just enjoyed a roast beef dinner which was very delicious but now I’m very full. As a result of this I’m slobbing around in my room on my laptop. I do this all the time anyway but today I suppose I have an excuse.

As I write this I’m only just beginning to realise I don’t really have anything of purpose to say in this post. I suppose it’s interesting that starting tomorrow, it is officially my last week of school ever. I’ll still be going in for revision sessions and stuff but I’m not obliged to turn up to those as I am with lessons. So beginning September (if all goes well) I begin my new life as a university student! This is exciting/nerve-wracking stuff.

I’m very worried about this summer. I tend to become quite depressed during the summer holidays. People go away on holiday and I’m stuck indoors wasting away in my room wishing I had something to do. However this summer I have creative plans that should diminish boredom marginally. I’ve got some film ideas to implement and I’m hoping that I’ll be doing more gigs in Underhand in a variety of venues. The idea of a tour is lovely but it all depends on where we’ll be allowed to play.

It was the “Highfields Oscars” ceremony on Wednesday for us Year 13 Film Studies lot. It’s just a bit of fun where all our films are played and awards are given. I won Miss Stanley’s “Award for Neo-Realism” which made me very happy :) I’ve even got a little Oscar trophy too! I wore a very snazzy dress and my first pair of high heels which were horrid to walk in. I think I need practice.

I plan on wearing the same dress and shoes for our “Year 13 Prom” in about a months time. So I definitely do need to practice walking in the shoes! Especially because Underhand are playing, I don’t fancy tripping over the hi-hat or falling off the stage! I’ve already fallen off a stage this month thanks very much!

I really ought to get down to revision now as I have an exam a week on Thursday!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT?

My bass!

My favourite song at the moment. I’ve fallen hard for Rush.

Another REALLY Late Weekend Post

You see what I mean? I make a promise to myself that I’ll post a text blog every weekend and I let myself down straight away! Ehh, bloody hell. Never mind. So, here’s the blog for the weekend just gone…and today is Thursday.

Anyway, last weekend was the final weekend of my Easter holidays. I stayed with my friends Jay and Jo in Staffordshire which was brilliant! I’d not seen them for months and I really missed them so seeing them was wonderful. Although I miss them now already and it’s only been a few days! Jay works as a radio presenter and technician at Stafford FM and he took me along on Friday night to sit in on his show. It was great fun! I even said a few things on air! Everyone there is really funny and friendly too. I even helped (sort of - more just making cups of tea/coffee and watching) put together a new studio for the place with him. I couldn’t claim any credit at all for it though - I barely did anything! Jay has built it all himself over about a week - woodwork, wiring and everything! It looks so professional and I’m really proud of him! We chilled out on Sunday, ate yummy food and watched the Chinese Grand Prix!

I don’t know whether I’m happy to be back at school after the holidays or not. Usually I can’t wait to get back into it but I just feel far too mentally tired to do any real work. But I need to get into it! The exams are soon and I need to pass to get into Staffordshire uni!

Come on Barcelona!
Late Weekend Post

Completely forgot to post a blog at the weekend! I don’t really suppose it matters because I’m almost 100% sure no one reads this! Anyway, never mind.

I had a fairly good weekend really. On Saturday I was lured out into Derby by Annie, Jess and Hayley for a bit of shopping. I originally said I wasn’t going because I’m trying to save some money but Annie persuaded me to come along for the ride anyway. I’m very glad she did! Not only was it refreshing to be out of the house and with friends for a day out but I had a quick look in BPM (a great vinyl shop in Derby) and found a right corker of a vinyl! One I’d been looking for for ages!
Level 42’s first album!
I was so chuffed! It’s an original pressing and by the looks of the record itself it didn’t look like it’d ever been played. That is until I got it home! I know I could’ve ordered a copy of it online but I really wanted to get the joy of finding a vinyl myself by looking through boxes of vinyls at car boot sales, record fairs and second hand shops. And after a good few years of looking I finally have it! However, on goes the search for The Early Tapes. It’s alright having the CDs and mp3s but nothing beats owning the vinyl - it just feels more warm and real.
I also bought a pair of burgundy fingerless gloves which were on sale and a pair of summer shoes. I can’t be wearing my brown lace-ups for all weathers unfortunately. I also bought a glass pyramid for £1.75 because it reminded me of Dark Side of the Moon.

So that was Saturday.

As for Easter Sunday I was mainly at band practice all day rehearsing for a gig we had at Barley Mow pub in Bonsall today (which went well). We went through the set list a couple of times and sorted out any problems that cropped up. In the evening I had a lovely roast dinner and afterwards I went out to The White Lion pub in Starkholmes with the rest of the band and friends. Twas good fun but a large glass of wine cost me £4!

For the rest of this week I really need to make a start on my school work which I’ve neglected for quite a while. I need to tidy my room too I suppose. Booooooo!

One of Deep Purple’s greatest tracks. Ian Gillan is one of the best vocalists ever!

Beginning of Easter Holidays Weekend

It’s now the Easter holidays! Although I’m not sure why it’s called a holiday. It’s basically two weeks where I’m expected to work at home non-stop. Not much fun really. I have about 7 essays and lots of other coursework/revision related items to do to. Hoorah. Anyway, I’m going into school on Monday and Tuesday because they’re putting on IT coursework catch-up days which I really need to attend. So really, it’s like I’ve not broken up for half term yet.

Anyway - today I’ve been to Derby Theatre to see my friend Joe perform as Rolf in The Sound of Music. It was an excellent production and I’m so proud of Joe - he’s a great singer and a fantastic actor and I had a great time!
As for tomorrow I think I ought to get down to do some work. It needs to be done at some point and I shouldn’t leave it to the last minute like I always do.

Another thing worth mentioning - I have a new TV and DVD player! It’s from my Dad and Gran as my birthday present and it’s absolutely brilliant! It’s a lovely relaxing thing to watch films whilst laying in your bed AND no one can complain at me and tell me to “turn it over” or “I don’t want to watch this film”. I practically have zero control over the TV downstairs so this is excellent. I can finally start working my way through my vast collection of unwatched DVDs. I’ve just been collecting films for ages and I’ve had no TV to watch them on and laptops just don’t do the job properly. However now I have my very own TV!
